Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 15, 2025

This page explains how Jérôme Parenteau uses cookies on this website, what kinds of cookies are set, and how you can manage your preferences. We aim to use only what is necessary and to be clear about the rest.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your browser when you visit. The file is retrieved on your next visit so the site can remember certain information about you.

Cookies serve different purposes. Some are strictly necessary to make a website work. Others help us understand how visitors use the site so we can make it more useful. Some are set by third-party tools we use, like analytics platforms.

Cookies are not programs and cannot run on your computer. They contain only text, and only the website that created a cookie can read it.

Your cookie preferences

Cookie duration

Cookies fall into two categories by lifespan:

  • Session cookies exist only while your browser is open. They are deleted automatically when you close the tab or browser. They are typically used to maintain a session as you move between pages.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your device until their expiry date or until you delete them manually. They allow the site to remember your preferences between visits. The durations for each category are listed above.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies on this site are set by third-party services. We do not control these cookies directly — their use is governed by the privacy policies of those providers.

  • Google Analytics — page view and session analytics (analytics category)
  • Google Maps — the embedded map on our homepage sets cookies to function (essential category)
  • Google Ads / Meta Pixel / Bing Ads — advertising measurement, if campaigns are active (marketing category)

You can find the privacy policies of these providers through their respective websites. Rejecting the marketing category above prevents these cookies from being set.

Your rights

  • Withdraw consent: You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time using the toggles on this page. Withdrawing consent does not affect cookies already placed, but prevents new optional cookies from being set.
  • Access information: You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, including any data collected through cookies. Send your request to [email protected].
  • Effect of refusing cookies: Refusing optional cookies will not prevent you from using this website. Only the map on our homepage and the contact form require a working browser, not optional cookies.
  • Questions: Contact us at [email protected] for any questions about how we use cookies. For complaints, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
